Gardner and Sheila Bride founded Petaluma Coffee Company in 1989 at Foundry Wharf in the newly formed Historic Riverfront Warehouse District of Petaluma. The desire was to have a roastery and café that catered to retail and wholesale customers. In 1998 they purchased a tea importing business with the idea of expanding the wholesale side of the company, thus becoming Petaluma Coffee & Tea Company. This growth required more room for storage of coffee beans, a larger coffee roaster, and larger quantities of tea. In 2001 the business moved to its current location at 212-2nd Street, near the then developing Theater District. This move again found the business in an eclectic neighborhood of historic warehouses surrounded by homes and apartments where the “Coffee Company” is able to maintain its low key style with a warm atmosphere and welcoming aromas.

“We’ve built our business with integrity, honesty and pride and we are doing it one cup at a time”.
